The Power Of Your Words

This months' article is written by Louise Hay who is known as one of the founders of the self-help
movement. Through Louise’s healing techniques and positive philosophy, millions have learned
how to create more of what they want in their lives, including more wellness in their bodies,
minds, and spirits.

One of the most powerful things we can ever say is I AM!

What’s standing in our way of having our life flow on all levels? We have tremendous power—the
power of our words and emotions. It’s our hearts that give the power to our thoughts. Is there
conflict between our hearts and our thoughts? What do we keep in our heart? Have we examined
it? And are we aware of what resides there?

Love is always the answer. What keeps us from filling our hearts with love? Why don’t we just
stuff our heart with love and allow this endless well we have within to flow freely? I believe it’s
because we haven’t cleaned out the hurt and anger and shame and guilt. Either we haven’t owned
these emotions, or they’re so repressed we don’t know they’re there or we feel justified in
keeping them.

We need to practice, practice, practice monitoring our thoughts and feelings. We cannot let
discord go out from us, for it will only come back to us sooner or later.

One of the most powerful things we can ever say is I AM . . . followed by whatever else we say.
Life will always give us what we believe. Use I AM and notice what follows.

I am angry. I am loving. I am afraid. I am at peace. I am helpless. I am joyous. I am frustrated. I
am allowing. Life is listening. Life is always listening and responding. When we add one word to
our I AM sentences, we see the awareness it will bring. When we say, I am aware, we become
more aware. We expand our awareness. We can’t change until we are aware of what needs
changing. We’re more in tune with the world around us, and we see more of what’s going on
within us. That’s our growth and our freedom.

When we say I am aware, we’ll find that we automatically add the word that. Our sentences then
become I am aware that . . . I feel angry. Not that I am angry, but that I feel angry. Or I feel
afraid, I feel helpless, I feel frustrated.

Again, we’re talking about taking our power back. Who’s the “I”? Who feels these emotions? We’
re talking about the divine, magnificent being within us. And we’re talking about choice. We begin
to realize that we’ve chosen to feel a certain way. And we can choose again! We’re not helpless.
We become aware that we feel helpless. Perhaps you say, I am aware that I feel annoyed. Then
you can say to that thought and feeling: Thank you for sharing, and now be on your way; go to
the light and be transformed. Consciously using the symbol of light adds power to our
knowingness. When we bring light into the dark areas, we see differently. When we send an
unwanted thing to the light, it’s dissolved.

We can consciously fill ourselves with light. We’re protected. When we fill ourselves with light, we
become more aware. Learn more about light and how to use it.

I am aware that . . . I am a divine, magnificent, expression of Life. I express all this and more. For
I am an unlimited being, forever unfolding. And I rejoice that this is so. All is well in my world now
and forevermore.

And so it is!
